STATS 102A: Introduction to Computational Statistics with R

Teaching Assistant, UCLA, Department of Statistics and Data Science, 2026

Teaching assistant for STATS 102A, “Introduction to Computational Statistics with R,” at the UCLA Department of Statistics and Data Science (Winter 2026). I led discussion sections, held office hours, prepared supplemental materials, and reviewed homework assignments.

Selected student comments:

Ryan is a knowledgeable TA who puts a great deal of effort into making supplemental materials for us. He’s very helpful in office hours and super responsive by email.

Ryan explained the concepts from lecture in a much more digestible way. I would usually get a general idea of a concept from the lectures, but I developed a better understanding of it during the discussion sections. He also reviewed the homework assignments and provided useful insights and tips that made them easier to complete. The homework assignments were fairly difficult, and I often found them challenging to complete using only the knowledge from lecture. Ryan shared additional explanations and guidance that made the assignments much more manageable.
